Dr. Karen Matt’s first experience with Charles Butt Foundation was in the summer of 2017 when she participated with a team in the Raising Family Partnerships program. Since then, she has continued to work with the Charles Butt Foundation as part of the original Principal Advocacy Fellowship cohort and is excited to continue in this new capacity.

Karen is the Chief Academic Officer in Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD. Before moving into that role, she served as a campus administrator for 17 years and has worked with students at all ages from EC-12th grades. She also serves as an adjunct professor for doctoral students in the College of Education at the University of Houston – Clear Lake.

Originally from Lake Jackson, Texas, Karen earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Midwestern State University, a Master of Education in Education Administration and superintendent certification from University of Houston-Victoria, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from University of Houston.
