Alumni Share Your Story Opportunity

Through the Charles Butt Foundation Leadership and Scholarship networks, we aim to create a strong, well-connected community of educators who learn, improve, and problem-solve together, and are united in pursuing a more equitable and prosperous future for all Texas students.

If you are a current program participant or an alum, we invite you to submit a video reflecting on how other school leaders or scholars in the network have shaped your career or life for the better.

Who are our alumni?

Leadership alumni are school leaders who have been sponsored by or received grants from the Charles Butt Foundation (previously the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation).

This includes participants of the following current and former programs and grant opportunities: Raising School Leaders (Harvard Leadership Institutes), Raising Blended Learners, Raising Family Partnerships, E3 Alliance, Relay Graduate School of Education, Teaching Trust, New Leaders, Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP) Business Fellowship, Harvard University’s Data Wise Improvement Process, and International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE).

Scholar alumni are former recipients of the Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers who have entered the field as Texas teachers.

Tips for recording

• This short clip can be filmed on a cell phone, please orient your phone horizontally and rest it against a solid surface near eye level.
• You may also record via Zoom or another video conferencing app.
• Please pick a quiet space and aim for clear audio.
• Position yourself near natural window lighting and avoid having a bright light to your back.

We invite you to reflect on your connection to the Leadership network and how other alumni have shaped your career or your life for the better. If you serve as a Charles Butt Scholar mentor, we also invite you to also reflect on your connection with your mentee(s).

You may record your submission alone or with a partner. Consider reaching out to someone from the network you admire or someone who has supported you. If you’re able to record together in person this is ideal, but we also welcome you to record a message together via Zoom or another video conferencing tool.

We invite you to reflect on your connection with and offer encouragement to fellow Scholars and Scholar Alumni. We also encourage you to reflect on your connection with your scholar mentor.

You may record your submission alone or with a partner. Consider reaching out to someone from the Scholarship network that you admire or someone who has supported you in your journey. Maybe that’s your mentor, or a peer you met at the Scholar Symposium, your program lead, or another Scholar on your campus. For Scholar Alumni, we encourage you to consider reaching out to another Scholar in the field or a principal in our network who’s supported you as you’ve started your career. If you’re able to record together in-person this is ideal, but we also welcome you to record a message together via Zoom or another video conferencing tool.
