Hotel & Meal Accommodations

The Charles Butt Foundation provides two complimentary nights of hotel accommodations (Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3) for attendees, as well as parking at the conference. You will use your hotel keycard to exit the garage. 

Meals will be provided at the symposium. Meals will be served buffet style and will accommodate all dietary restrictions listed in the registration form. You are responsible for the cost of any food or beverages purchased outside of meals provided at the conference. 

Any other charges outside of the hotel room itself will be your responsibility, including accessing paid hotel amenities like long distance phone calls, the spa, or the gift shop.

Need to cancel?

If you are no longer able to attend the symposium, please email RaisingTXTeachers@CharlesButtFDN.org with “Late 23 Symposium Cancellation – Your Last Name” as the subject line. Include your name, university, and reason for canceling.  Please keep in mind, canceling after May 1st, or simply not showing up, may mean you are liable to pay for the cost of the hotel room.


FAQs

What should I wear to symposium sessions? 

You should plan to wear business casual to any Scholar Symposium events. Because the hotel is large, feel free to wear comfortable shoes, which can include tennis shoes or  dressy sneakers.

What should I wear in my free time?

Feel free to wear comfortable, casual clothes in your free time. There will be some time where you have the option to visit the water park. If you plan to visit the water park, bring a swimsuit. 

What should I pack?

  • Three business casual outfits for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
    • Feel free to recycle outfits or mix and match 
  • Casual outfits to hang out in after the day’s events are over, can include athletic wear 
  • Pajamas
  • Swimsuit (if you plan to visit the water park)
  • Comfortable shoes to walk around in 
  • Pack a comfortable outfit to travel home in
  • Phone and phone charger (you will not need a laptop) 
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Toiletries 
  • Sunscreen
  • Snacks for the shuttle or your hotel room

What will the weather be like in Grapevine in June?

Weather is unpredictable, but it is extremely likely it will be very hot outside. Bring a sweater in case it’s cold in the conference center. 

Who will be at the Scholar Symposium?

The Charles Butt Scholarship team invites all current and former scholarship recipients to attend the Scholar Symposium. You will be amongst other students on their way to becoming teachers and individuals who have been teaching anywhere from 1-5 years. Most of your learning time will be spent with your peers, either current Scholars or Scholar Alumni.
