Prairie View A&M (PVAMU) is an HBCU and the 2nd oldest public university in the state. PVAMU is committed to addressing the minority teacher shortage. The University has a rich, historical legacy of producing diverse, resilient, high-quality teacher educators to supply the needs of schools in Texas and across the nation since 1879.

Welcome to the Panther Educator Promise Program Scholars (PEPPS) for students pursuing any undergraduate or graduate residency program for teacher certification. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Planning to teach in a Texas public school
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Seeking certification in the following areas:
    • EC-6 with STR certification area:        
    • 4-8 Certification areas:
      • Math, Science, English/Language Arts with STR, Social Studies, & Core 4-8 with STR
    • 7-12 Certification areas:
      • ELAR, Math, & Science
    • Music EC-12
    • SPED EC-12
    • Health EC-12
    • Physical Education EC-12
  • Participation in Year-Long Residency program is required
