Texas State University

The education program at Texas State University has a storied history, recognized at both the state and national levels. Since 1899, the College of Education has been preparing remarkable teachers for the schools and communities of Texas. As a Hispanic-serving institution of higher learning, our teacher education program is dedicated to enhancing human potential for all – through excellent teaching, cutting-edge scholarship, partnerships with school districts throughout the state, and community engagement.

We are equity-focused to ensure that those studying to become teachers in Texas have:

  • opportunities to experience and implement evidence-based teaching practices;
  • multiple occasions to collaborate with peers, classroom teachers, administrators, university faculty, and community members while learning to teach; and,
  • support to positively impact the future of education in Texas.
  • Early Childhood EC-6 ESL Certification*

* Participation in a year-long residency is required
